Reach Toward Possibility

Creative Nudge Fridays is here!

We're reaching further.

Our ability to expand into our highest possibilities is in direct relationship with how far we think we can extend ourselves. As Henry Ford said, "If you think you can or think you can't, you're right". These words always remind me of a stretching exercise I learnt many moons ago.

1. Stand with your feet firmly on the ground. Lift one arm up straight in front of you (at a right angle to your body) with your index finger pointing ahead (like you are pointing to the horizon). Without moving your feet, gently swing your arm around as far as it can go - allow your head and upper body to follow in a twist-like motion. Stretch yourself as far as you can go (without any harm to yourself of course). Go as far as you are sure is your furthest possible point - take note of the *exact* spot your index finger is pointing to (you'll be referring back to it). And relax, bring yourself back to centre. *You can also do this while sitting on the floor, as long as there is space behind you to extend out your arm.

2. Next, do the exercise (still standing or sitting in the same place), but this time close your eyes and only imagine it. In your mind's eye imagine you are ultra flexible like rubber and can turn your upper body around full circle, then back again. See yourself being able to do this with ease. Imagine the full-circle twist a couple of times to really get a sense that this is completely possible.

3. Open your eyes and repeat step 1. Do the exercise with your eyes open (again, still standing or sitting in the same place). Now note the *exact* spot where your finger is pointing to this time around.

Notice a difference?

Initially we go as far as we think is our limit. We are sure we can not possibly go any further. But when we stretch ourselves into the possibility that we can go even further… we do.

To remind yourself that if you think you can, you can, take a pic of something that represents the word 'possibility' to you. Then use the pic as your screen saver or wallpaper on your phone or computer.

Spread Your Wings

23-29 September 2013; 'Spread Your Wings', this morning's intuited sketch from my soul with a message for the week ahead.

The colour-filled and calm winged one arrived to remind the self, 'this way up!'.

This way to the highest vision of yourself and your life. Spread your wings, let go of the outcome and be free (from within) to see the heights they are capable of (up)lifting you to.

We're working with the notion here that you have a pair of wings. Well, you do. The more you know this the more you can work with them and spread them wide to help shift yourself beyond old patterns, inner-tensions and self-doubts. Sounds too fanciful? Remember, you are a miracle happening on an organic life-supporting rock hurling through an ever-expanding Universe at the precisely the exact speed to keep you on it.

Your soul has a pair of wings, and while you are here they are located right in between your shoulder blades. They move in tune with your whole beingness.

Here is an exercise you can do to Open Your Wings right now;

Take a moment to sit or stand comfortably (if the only spare moment you have today is in the bathroom, that's as good a place as any!). And inhale slowly and deeply (bring your breath all the way down to your abdomen and allow it to fill up like a balloon). And exhale, releasing all the stale air. Again, inhale deeply and slowly, this time become aware of your chest expanding. And exhale. One more time, inhale deeply and slowly and as you do see your wings puff wide open behind you. And exhale. A note, some of you will be able to visualise this process. Others might need to imagine it is happening, like you are pretending and that is okay. Or you can work with the words and allow the process to happen in whatever way feels right for you.

Whenever our chest aka heart chakra feels it has room (is allowed) to breathe, your wings shoot open even if your arms are by your side. Whenever you trust your heart they shoot open (I'm told it's their favourite method). Whenever you follow through on your inner knowing or centre yourself in your truth within, your wings shoot open. Whenever you are expressing yourself authentically, feeling gratitude and in a state of calm, they shoot open. When you invest in self-care, they yes shoot open.

Our wings are also our helpers. Especially when we don't know which way to go or when it feels too overwhelming to shift yourself from where you feel you are at to where you wish to be. Whenever we find it challenging to trust our hearts, are doubting our own selves or feeling displaced from within, what is the one thing we must all keep doing? Breathing. The more you tune into your breath, the breath itself can help relax your chest. Keep breathing. And your wings will puff open to help you.

This week, spread your brilliant wings.

We're not talking about being showy in order to prove our worth to others, we talking about showing up for ourselves, showing up as who we really are (which means having the courage to be vulnerable). If you are doubting your worth or who you are right now, breathe through it. Puff those wings open that will show you otherwise. You can do it. *If you are new to your wings, test them out. Practice with the breathing exercise and notice how this changes your mood and mode of being.

I'd love to hear from you. How do your brilliant wings assist you? Add your comments below or be a part of the conversation on my Facebook Page.

Shine on, Jelena x

p.s. while doing this sketch I unconsciously flipped my art journal around, thus it's upside-down in relation to the rest of the book. Sometimes things (need to) appear upside-down in order to be seen in a new light and thus (re)turned right-side-up. Including our own self x

Your You~ness Party

Creative Nudge Fridays is here!

We're going to the party.

Our whole self is constantly inviting all of our inner aspects to come to the party - of being who we really are and letting go of who we are not.

What would your party look like if it could be anything in the world? Of course your life is your you~ness party. For this nudge we're inviting our imagination to run free and open to what our party would look like if we let go of any fears, limiting beliefs, self-sabotaging patterns and old modes of being that no longer serve us. Ask yourself what kind of event is it - casual, relaxed, sacred, natural, vintage, original, simple, elaborate, fun, childlike, serious or something else? It might be a quaint or boisterous celebration. It is whatever surfaces for you.

Pay attention to any signs or tangible objects that show up on your path that symbolise what your party would look like. It might be a rainbow, glitzy shoes, balloons, delicious food, a magnificent cake, your favourite band, a jumping castle or whatever you feel drawn to. You might want to bake that cake! Or express this nudge in the form of an artwork.

To remind yourself that your life right now is your you~ness party in action, take a pic of your symbolic object or artwork, then use the pic as your screen saver or wallpaper on your phone or computer.

If you give the nudge a go, comment below or be a part of the conversation on my Facebook Page. If you share your nudge pic via Twitter or Instagram use the tag #creativenudgefridays so we can find you.

In the words of Steve Covey, "Live out of your imagination, not your history.".

Your Heart Groove

Creative Nudge Fridays is here!

Welcome to nudge #20. Ready to get your heart groove on?

In the entire Universe there is only one you. And you were born to be exactly that. You. Yet from a very early age many of us are told, taught or take on board that we need to tame our roar, shun our light and turn down the volume of our soul. In order to be enough, worthy and loved. If you have ever heard (and believed) words like, 'You can't do that', 'No, you can't be that', 'Oh, you must be dreaming' or 'Welcome to reality', then at some point you have most likely felt (or feel) like a round peg in a square hole.

It takes a lot of energy to be less than who you really are. And calls for courageous vulnerability to be your whole self. To dance to the rhythm of your own heart beat.

Here is a nudge to turn up the volume of your own inner beat and express it out. Tune into the rhythm of your breath. Your breath is in direct relationship with your heart beat. And allow your breath to guide you in a few minutes of movement.

Find or create a space where you can move freely around, either indoors or outside. If you feel comfy close your eyes. Become aware of your physical self. Notice where you are holding any tension. And breathe. Notice where you are feeling any ease. And breathe. Allow your breath to enter its own natural rhythm. Then, begin to move your body however you feel guided to move from within. You might keep your feet planted on the floor and move your upper body in a swaying motion. You might move your whole self but stay in the same spot. Or you might feel to move around in a circle, around the room or wherever your inner beat takes you. Move freestyle for a few minutes or as long as you like. Allow your movement to come to a natural point of stillness. When you are ready, wiggle your fingers to help ground your energies. And slowly, open your eyes.

Allowing our physical selves to move freely in an authentic way gives permission to our whole self to freely be who we authentically are.

To remind yourself that your heart groove is always with you, take a pic of you in motion, then use the pic as your screen saver or wallpaper on your phone or computer.

If you give the nudge a go, comment below or be a part of the conversation on my Facebook Page. If you share your heart groove pics via Twitter or Instagram use the tag #creativenudgefridays so we can find you.
