The Rebirth

2-9 September 2013: 'The Rebirth', this morning's intuited sketch from my soul with a message for the week ahead.

What is inevitable for a seed pod? It must break open.

The sacred enclosure transforms into an open gateway. The purpose of the pod rebirths, and births out a new embodiment of itself.

Imagine a seed pod that resisted to break open. A seed pod that believed it was not good enough to be more of its divine self. That chose to limit its own growth instead of allowing its true flow. That decided to well, stay shut. What then of its higher purpose to break open by breaking through its doubts, fears and inner critics? What if it dismissed, denied and pushed aside its innate direction to express itself (as itself)? The energy seeking to break open would begin to turn in and find an opening elsewhere. In a break down. On some level. Not because it was worthless, useless or a mistake. Because of course it is none of those things. But because no matter how determined a pod may be to remain shut, its true flow will always find a way to do exactly that, flow.

And so whenever chaos reigns, things feel 'shut' or one feels they are breaking-down, know this: your true flow is constantly... flowing. It is ever-present even in our most unclear and unsure moments.

This week notice how your true flow is flowing. Are you attempting to stay shut in an area of your life or are you answering the call to break open into more of your wholeness? Are you feeling worn down by limiting beliefs and false perceptions of the self or are you breaking-through their illusion? Are you grasping onto or releasing old definitions of your purpose and who you are?

The pod says rebirth is a time of releasing the newness already within you. Open to the fullness of your divine self.

I'd love to hear from you. What helps you consciously align with your flow? Add your comments below or be a part of the conversation on my Facebook Page.

A Recipe for Bliss

Happy Easter lovelies.

Eostre, the Anglo-Saxon goddess of Spring, is considered the ancient namesake of the festival of Easter. It's about fertility, renewal, rebirth and the divine return. All of which are aspects of creativity. Whether or not you observe Easter, this week is a brilliant time to honour the connection with your creative spirit in whatever way feels good to you.

One of the things I love to do during this time is to get in the kitchen and create nutritious and delicious concoctions to share with my loved ones. Here's one of my recipes for bliss that I'd love to share with you!

Lelicious Raw Cacao and Coconut Bliss Balls

Makes approximately 22 regular sized bliss balls.

Ingredients
12 mejool dates (about 2 cups), pitted and chopped
2 cups shredded coconut
4 level tablespoons coconut oil, melted if needed
4 level tablespoons cacao powder
1 heaped tablespoon tahini
1 teaspoon vanilla essence
1/2 cup extra shredded coconut for covering, optional

Method
- Add the ingredients into a food processor or blender, one by one. Blend until well combined.
- Spoon the mixture out into a mixing bowl. Using your hands, roll one spoonful at a time into bite-sized bliss balls (about the size of a golf ball).
- Roll your bliss balls in the extra shredded coconut to coat them.
- Place in the fridge to set (or eat them immediately if you prefer!).
- Store in an air-tight container in the fridge.

Recipe Notes
- If your mixture is too dry, add a little more tahini one spoon at a time.
- If you find your mixture too wet, add a little more shredded coconut.
- No blender? No matter. Place your mejool dates in a pot of shallow water over medium heat. Gently stew them until soft and the water has been absorbed. Keep your eye on it, in case you need to add a little more water. Then, spoon into a mixing bowl and combine it with the rest of the ingredients. This method may add more moisture to your final mixture, in which case add more shredded coconut as needed.

Eat before they all go!

It's a bite-sized superfood for your super self.

I'd love to hear about how you connect with your creative spirit! In what ways do you connect or desire to connect with its essence? Add your comments below or be a part of the conversation on my Facebook Page.

p.s. Honouring the connection with who you really are, in a way that feels good to you, is a brilliant recipe for personal bliss.

You are a Meaning-Maker

For those of you who know my blog you know I love to share with you soul-nourishing creative good things and deliver self-empowering invitations via creativity and the written word to help you be more of who you really are. This week I felt guided to do that in the form of a more personal story.

I was searching for a particular tiny notebook I had bought in Milan, Italy after spending a month printmaking in Florence in 2006. I looked all through my studio, in my craft boxes, on my shelves, in my drawers and in the cupboards. It was nowhere to be found. So I took to my art supplies storage space under my house yesterday. I still didn't find it. Instead I did come across a stack of blank watercolour papers that had belonged to my mum, Miki Mrkich (1951-2002) . She was an artist, amongst many brilliant things, who allowed me to find my own way as an artist too. In the ten and a half years since she transitioned, these precious papers were still blank, waiting to be used for something fabulous. As soon as I saw them again, I knew what they had been waiting for. My 365 Acts of Creativity project. I'm already two months into it, creating in a beautiful red art journal. Yet I kept sensing that my project wanted to be in another format. Holding the watercolour papers in my hand I knew their purpose, to be the canvas for all 365 pieces. This means quite a few already completed pieces are going to go through a rebirth and transform as new creations. Quite apt really, for the Year of the Snake. Shedding layers to reveal new layers.

This afternoon I placed the papers on the lawn and lay down amongst them. Grateful that creativity - be it through art, craft, photographs, videos, music, voice recordings, hand-written notes, letters, postcards, poems, hand-painted plates, hand-knitted socks, hand-quilted blankets, hand-beaded jewellery, family recipes, hand-planted mulberry trees or any other creative imprints and expressions - gives form to our essence and when shared with others, allows a part of us to be with them in the present and in the physical when we pass on.

Some may say, 'But it's just blank paper, there's nothing on it.'. True. There is nothing on these papers. But they hold a lot. They were my mum's and as such hold a deep meaning to me. They mean the world to me.

As with anything we own, create or do ~ what touches us and can immeasurably shift us the most is the meaning that it holds or the meaning we give it. Whenever we wish to make or create anything for ourselves or another, it is an opportunity to create greater meaning in our life right now. From my soul to yours I say, "Get your create on!".

p.s. Kalvin dove straight into the papers and hopped from one to the next imagining they were stepping stones. Kalvin says life is a journey of stepping stones. Some stones are more challenging than others to travel across. Each one carries its own experience, which can include; joy, sadness, laughter, tears, easeful~ness, frustration, clarity, confusion, expression, suppression, stillness, movement, wounds, healing, anxiety, liberation, grief, peace or gratitude. Each step holds value, purpose and meaning. Each step is what leads us to where we are. And when we acknowledge where we are at, we allow ourselves to be more of who we are. Kalvin says wherever you are at, express your brilliant self. It's beneficial for your whole self and your sense of wellness. And as a bonus, one day someone who loves you just might one say thank you for it too.
