Creative Nudge Fridays is here!
Welcome to nudge #6. The arrival of a new year is a brilliant time to begin new things.
This week I've embarked on "365 acts of creativity", a creative exploration for my year ahead (details below). 3 down. 362 to go. This weekend join me on the
journey. Do one conscious act of creativity. I invite you to go beyond obvious creative acts and open up to the creativity around you in your everyday.
Here is a list of everyday creative acts you can draw from;
- Getting ready for your day; choosing the clothes you wear is an act of self-expression. Notice what colours you are drawn to and what they mean to you.
- Cooking; nourish your senses as well as your stomach. Be mindful of the way you prepare and present your next meal (even when serving for one).
- Putting things up on your fridge; clear the clutter and transform it into a visual delight or a vision board.
- Taking pics on your phone; many of us do and it's positively creative. Next time you take a pic notice how you frame the shot and what the light is doing.
- Gardening; the Earth nourishes our creative spirit.
- Walking barefoot on the grass/dirt/sand; grounds our {creative} energies.
- Laughing; it increases creativity, is contagious and works quickly. It's also a physical and emotional release known to reduce stress and lower blood pressure.
- Inner child happiness; playing in a playground, bouncing on a trampoline, making daisy chains, putting on a cape, jumping in puddles, squishing mud, finger painting, blowing bubbles, splashing your feet in the water, collecting shells, building sand castles, etc. Connecting with your inner child strengthens the connection with your creative self.
- Visiting a local park or going on a bush walk; nature nurtures the self.
- Going on a picnic; it's a refreshing, relaxing and fun experience, rejuvenating our senses.
- Making a wish, setting an intention, incubating a dream or launching a desire; these are all made manifest via the creative impulse.
- Journalling; it's self-expression via the written word.
- Doodling; it's your subconscious at play.
What others can you think of? Add them below!
Note; For this nudge if you feel drawn to do a more obvious act of creativity {like drawing, painting, collaging, sculpting, photography, writing, singing, dancing, playing music, etc}, go for it! Whether obvious or ordinary, do whatever conscious act of creativity feels good to you.
To remind yourself that you already are a creative being by simply being you, take a photo of your creativity in action, then use the pic as your screen saver or wallpaper on your phone or computer.

p.s. Today's nudge is to do one act of creativity. The focus of the entire 365 acts of creativity exploration is about nurturing your self-expression and developing an easeful + conscious creative practice. You can do one act per day, or several across a soul nourishing weekend ~ with the aim to complete 365 acts by the end of the year. What you do for your act(s) of creativity is up to you. Use your materials, mediums and techniques of choice. Work with the avenue(s) of expression that call you. At the moment I am doing my 365 acts of creativity in my art journal using pencil, Indian ink artist pens, watercolour and collage (see pics on my Facebook Page or Instagram). If you decide to join me on the entire 365 acts of creativity journey take pics along the way and share them with us! Let's use the tag #365aoc so we can find you on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram. If you blog about this nudge or your #365aoc journey, please let me know. Enjoy!
